The idea for PegSport Games came from the most unlikely of places, a truck stop in New Mexico. On a road trip from Oklahoma to California, the creator, Gary Mankin and his two sons stopped for dinner. There were some traditional peg games on the table. The boys enjoyed the games so much that Gary decided to buy some for the long trip back to California. Being a golf enthusiast, Gary especially liked a golf-themed game that he found in the gift shop.

Back at home several days later, Gary played the golf game himself. He enjoyed the concept, but realized that by having a board with different starting positions and changeable ending positions he could more closely simulate a real game of golf. Players could change the board to have a new challenge every time they played.

He invented a unique game board which allows multiple opponents to battle it out for the lowest score. Gary also realized that his invention would work with other sports themes. Gary filed for a patent and PegSport Games was born.
